The Lagos State Police Command has started to probe the tragic death of Anosikwa Patrick, allegedly stabbed by a police officer identified as Inspector Taofeek at Skymall in Ajah. According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s public relations officer, the manager, and the chief security officer of the mall were detained to aid the investigation. Hundeyin disclosed this information in a statement on Sunday.

He said: “The manager and chief security officer of the mall are already in custody assisting with the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, the police officer has been identified as Inspr. Taofeek, member of visiting 12 PMF squadron to Lagos.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, has directed detectives of the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department to ensure a speedy and diligent investigation towards ensuring that the culprit is brought to book.”

West Africa Weekly earlier reported that a social media user, @NotMentus, brought attention to the incident. He lamented the loss of his brother and stated that the officer responsible, along with his colleague, is currently evading arrest.

In response, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) spokesperson, assured swift action. According to Hundeyin, on Sunday, the Commissioner of Police directed detectives to conduct a thorough investigation and bring the culprit to justice.
