Funke Akindele’s Everybody Loves Jenifa Breaks Nollywood Records With ₦206 Million Opening Weekend Box office

Funke Akindele’s latest movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa, has shattered Nollywood records, earning ₦206 million in its opening weekend and an unprecedented ₦87.8 million on its first day.

The film, released this December, has set a new standard for Nigerian cinema with the highest-grossing opening weekend and one-day performance in Nollywood history. The distributors say the movie’s success marks “a legendary record-breaking moment.”

Everyone is in anticipation of Everybody Loves Jenifa beating the highest record set by Akindele’s A Tribe Called Judah of ₦1 Billion by amassing up to ₦5 million.

The comedy-drama brings back Akindele’s iconic character, Jenifa, combining humour with heartfelt moments. The film has resonated strongly with audiences, featuring a star-studded cast that includes Falz, Bisola Aiyeola, Jackie Appiah, Omowunmi Dada, and more.

December is known for its competitive cinema releases, but Everybody Loves Jenifa has outpaced its rivals, solidifying Akindele’s reputation as a powerhouse in Nollywood.
