Funke Akindele’s latest movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa, has shattered Nollywood records, earning ₦206 million in its opening weekend and an unprecedented ₦87.8 million on its first day.

The film, released this December, has set a new standard for Nigerian cinema with the highest-grossing opening weekend and one-day performance in Nollywood history. The distributors say the movie’s success marks “a legendary record-breaking moment.”

Everyone is in anticipation of Everybody Loves Jenifa beating the highest record set by Akindele’s A Tribe Called Judah of ₦1 Billion by amassing up to ₦5 million.
