Organisers of the #EndBadGovernance at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Ojota have denounced a statement by Commissioner of Police Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha, who claimed that protests in Lagos had been cancelled.

Contrary to this assertion, protesters have returned to the park, rejecting attempts to dissuade them with monetary offers.

Peoples Gazette reported that demonstrators refused N5,000 offered to many would-be protestors to stay away from the park on Monday.

Videos circulating on social media platform X show a protester speaking through a megaphone with chants of “Sanwo-Olu is a thief” in the background.

The protester urged for a reduction in the price of garri and emphasised their determination to continue protesting, saying, “They came to deceive us with N5,000, but we rejected it. We don’t need their money. We will continue to protest. This is our nation.”

This resistance comes just 24 hours after President Bola Tinubu’s nationwide broadcast calling for an end to the demonstrations.

Despite his appeal, several Lagos residents have returned to the streets.

The protesters are also demanding the resignation of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun over the indiscriminate killings of protesters across the country.
