Over 23 Million Fans Sign Petition Calling for Argentina to Be Banned From World Cup

An online petition calling for Argentina’s national team to be permanently barred from participating in the FIFA World Cup has gathered more than 23 million signatures, making it one of the most widely circulated petitions in history.

The petition, titled “Argentina Out”, has drawn support from over 170 countries according to reports by RMC and Eurosport. Organisers accused FIFA and match officials of favouring Argentina and captain Lionel Messi in crucial decisions that allegedly helped them win matches during the 2026 World Cup. “Why should the rest of the teams play in the tournament if the winner is known in advance? Exclude Argentina from the World Cup and give everyone a fair chance,” the petition text read.

The petition will not affect Argentina’s participation in future international tournaments, as football’s governing bodies have not heeded the calls.
