Colombian superstar Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, widely known as Shakira, has expressed deep admiration for Afrobeats, prominent Nigerian artist Burna Boy and rising South African star Tyla.

During an interview with Rolling Stone on June 13, 2024, the globally renowned singer revealed her profound love for African music and highlighted her appreciation for Burna Boy and rising South African talent Tyla.

Shakira, whose musical style has garnered international acclaim, emphasised the authenticity and diversity of her musical tastes. She stated, “If I could explain my taste in music in three words, I would say eclectic, honest, and real. I love anything Afrobeats. I like Tyla, I like Burna Boy, and anything Afrobeats. But I love Burna so much.”

The “Waka waka” singer’s comments underscore her genuine interest and love for Afrobeats, a genre that has significantly increased global popularity. Her admiration for Burna Boy, in particular, highlights his influence and the growing reach of African music worldwide.
