Ukraine Using Western Weapons to Strike Russia: “A Question of Time“

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Friday that using Western-supplied weapons to strike inside Russia is inevitable.

I think that using any weapon, Western kind of weapon, on the territory of Russia is a question of time. Otherwise, it is not about just peace,” Zelenskyy said during a visit to Stockholm, Sweden.

Recall that on Tuesday, Putin had warned NATO against allowing Ukraine to use Western missiles to attack deep inside Russia, saying that it could lead to a global conflict.

Ukraine has been pressing its Western allies to allow offensive strikes on Russian military targets, especially as the country faces intense Russian advances in the northeastern Kharkiv region. Zelenskyy stressed the need for these weapons to respond to and defend the country against Russian attacks.

The urgency has grown as Ukraine faces delays in military aid, increased attacks on its energy infrastructure, and Russia’s efforts to expand the frontline.

Meanwhile, the United States President, Joe Biden, has quietly permitted Ukraine to target Russian military sites supporting the offensive in Kharkiv. Zelenskyy mentioned receiving a message from the U.S. on Friday morning that marked a “step forward” in defending villages near the Russian border without disclosing further details.

Germany and France have also shown support for Ukraine’s right to strike military sites in Russia that are used to attack Ukrainian territory.
