Terrorists, colloquially known as “bandits”, in the early hours of Tuesday, reportedly invaded a town, Kasuwa-Daji, in the locality of Kaura-Namoda in Zamfara State, killing four persons, including two police officers.

The invading attacks ceased after the bandits abducted over 40 residents in the community while shooting sporadically to, by fear, coerce as many abductees as possible.

Some residents who spoke to journalists said the terrorists attacked the house of the former State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Hamisu Kasuwar-Daji, and abducted one of his wives and grandchildren.

The assailants, in an attack reported to have lasted more than two hours, also attacked the police building located near Kasuwa-Daji’s house, killing two police officers and two other unidentified residents while carting away their arms.

Meanwhile, in an attack carried out in a house-to-house raid, the Zamfara State Police Command has only confirmed but remained silent on detailing the casualties figures.

“Yes, there was an attack in Kasuwar-Daji in the early hours of today. We are yet to confirm the number of the residents abducted. But the Commissioner of Police has deployed additional troops to restore normalcy in the town,” says the Command’s spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar, on Channels TV.
