Plateau crisis: Five family members burnt to death in Mangu

A family of five were reportedly burnt to death in their house, in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. The incident allegedly occurred as a result of the crisis that broke out in the early hours of Tuesday, 23rd January 2024.

The house, located around the Sohon Kasuwa area of the local government, was set on fire by assailants when the crisis broke out. 

One of the victims, their father, was reportedly sick and could not run to safety. Other occupants of the house included his sister, three of his children simply identified as Emma, Beatrice and Dorcas, an anonymous source told West Africa Weekly. 

The state government had since declared a 24-hour curfew to forestall any further breakdown of law and order in the area and assured citizens of its relentless efforts to bring lasting peace in the state.
