Plateau State Governor, Caleb Muftwang, has declared a 24-hour curfew following the invasion of assailants in Mangu Local Government Area.

The curfew was announced today, following the deteriorating security challenges in the local government. Muftwang said the declaration was made after consultations with relevant security agencies.

The governor in a statement statement stated, “only persons on essential duties are allowed to move within the local government area until further notice.”

He urged citizens, especially residents of the affected area to “comply with the directives and assist the security personnel by providing reliable information to restore peace and order in the area.”

The governor also sympathised with the families of victims while assuring them of governments relentless efforts to bring lasting peace in the state.

The curfew is a preventative measure to forestall any further breakdown of law and order in the area.
