Maintain Peace or Wait Till 2027 Election to Demand Change — Tinubu to NLC

Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, to wait until the next election to express their grievances or maintain peace, saying it is unfair for the labour union to call for strikes within the nine months of his controversially contested administration.

Tinubu expressed this cautious statement on Thursday, during the inauguration of the Red Line Rail in Lagos, while reiterating his commitment to good governance to Nigerians.

Mr Tinubu stated that no matter how much NLC claimed to fight for freedom and rights, calling strikes within his nine-month administration was “unacceptable”.

If you want to participate in the electoral process, wait until 2027. If not, then make peace. You are not the only voice of Nigerians, Tinubu told the NLC.

Meanwhile, his statement came days after the NLC had organised a nationwide protest over the economic hardship in the country, corruption, and government excess spending on frivolity.

Nonetheless, the NLC has threatened to strike if the government fails to address the rising inflation and insecurity in the country.
