An officer of the Nigerian Police Force has accidentally shot his colleague, Tanko Emmanuel, now deceased in Plateau State.

The incident occurred on Wednesday around Terminus, Ahmadu Bello Way in Jos, as the officers were deployed to the scene to enforce clear passage for road users.

According to Sahara Reporters, an eyewitness revealed that one Inspector, Haruna, led the team. At the scene, arguments ensued with a civilian, and one of the officers accidentally fired a shot that killed Officer Emmanuel.

May Almighty God give his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss, and may the Almighty Allah continue to protect security operatives from catastrophic incidents like this,” the eyewitness said.

With the officer reported dead, the Nigerian Police Force lost one of its own.

Meanwhile, the nature of the road is a busy business route with retail businesses, as satellite images have shown.
