The terrorist group, Boko Haram, disguised in military outfits, attacked Gatamarwa and Tsiha near Shikarkir communities in the Chibok local government area of Borno State, killing 11 persons after abducting one unidentified female.
The terrorists hit the community of Gatamarwa at approximately 5 p.m. on Monday during the January 1, 2024, celebration.
This new attack happened just two weeks after other rebels similarly attacked Chibok, killing two people and pillaging homes before setting them on fire.
A community member, Mallam Wakil Aliyu, who spoke to Vanguard’s correspondent, described the attackers as “heavily armed with AK47 rifles and a mix of vehicles and motorcycles, who first opened fire on some people who were returning from mourning in Gatamarwa before later attacking another Tsiha community near Shikarkir and killing three people with the abduction of a young lady.”
Meanwhile, findings reveal their modus operandi as taking a hit on communities in large numbers yet armed with assault rifles, burning houses, and carting away foodstuffs of the victims.
