Zamfara Governor Proposes 2024 Budget of N423.5bn

Zamfara Proposes 2024 Budget of N423.5bn

The Governor of Zamfara State, home to agricultural products of Nigeria, Governor Dauda Lawal, has on Thursday proposed his first state appropriation bill covering the N423.5 billion budget to cater for security, education, roads, and agricultural necessities of the state.

The 2024 budget themed ” Rescue Budget” as proposed by the Governor entails many road infrastructures covering six local governments of Bukio, Gusau Marado, Maro, and Safe in Zamfara state. Also, education, health, security, and agricultural expenditure are part of the state budget.

During the governor’s presentation, he stated, “The Zamfara State Government intends to execute during the year 2024 the following projects: Continuation of Urban Renewal Programme; construction of 17 kilometres Mallamawa to Bukkuyum road; Bukkuyum to Birnin Zauma to Gummi road; Maradun to Makera road; Damri to Aje Wargi to Dakko to Rafin Gyero to Barayar Zaki to Nasarawar Burkullu road; Maradun to Magami to Faru Road; Magami-Dangulbi-Dankurmi-Bagega to Anka road among others.”

While the budget is presented, the House Speaker, Iliaminu Ismail, sympathizes with the citizens who have suffered casualties at the level of insecurities meted by insurgency in the state while assuring the smooth passage of the state budget as proposed by the governor.

However, Zamfara has an increasing population of N5.83m with 38,418 km2 of land mass divided into 14 local government areas, yet endowed with 27 natural resources and a GDP of N2.1 trillion (2022 est.) yet the capital expenditure records N305 billion and N118.1 billion was for recurrent expenditure.
