Terrorists, colloquially known as “gunmen”, on Thursday, invaded Koro Town in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, killing the traditional ruler, Oba Segun Aremu-Cole, abducted wife and two others.

During the invasion, at noon, the King was hit with a gunshot, leaving mayhem in the palace of the monarch.

His wife and two others were reportedly abducted by the assailants. This attack follows the recent mayhem that stormed Ekiti State with the said “gunmen” killing two traditional rulers and abducting schoolchildren.

Meanwhile, the State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who confirmed the attack late Thursday in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, condemned the killing of the monarch.

In part, Ajakaye’s statement reads, “The monarch was reportedly shot dead in his palace on Thursday night by some unknown gunmen, who also whisked away his wife and two others.

“The governor condemned the development, which he said was reckless, shocking, and abominable,” he said.

Furthermore, he quoted the statement of the governor, saying, “We will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity.

“My profound condolences go to the people of Koro. Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always”, the statement said.

However, the perpetrators have yet to claim the attacks, as demand for ransom for the abducted is their way of claiming attacks of kidnappings.
