How PIDOMNigeria's 3-Week Detention Violates Nigerian and International Law

The Nigerian Police Force has reneged in its promise to arraign popular whistleblower PIDOMNIGERIA (Isaac Bristol) in court this week. He continues to languish in detention incommunicado.

PIDOM was arrested on August 5, and his arrest was kept a secret by the Police until Investigative Journalist David Hundeyin exposed the unlawful incarceration.

The Public Relations Officer of the NPF, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, admitted last Friday that PIDOM was in Police custody and promised that “he will be arraigned in court next week” (this week.

However, it’s a week today, and PIDOM is yet to be charged in court. He is being held incommunicado without access to his legal representatives or family members.

PIDOM, whose leaks have exposed irregularities by high-profile public servants, is reportedly being held in a black site.

Nigerians have called for the immediate, unconditional release of PIDOM and other 2,000 #EndBadGovernance protesters detained for protesting hunger in the current administration.

Civil Society organisations and leaders of opposition parties have also condemned the glaring assault on Press freedom by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
