Shortly after being arrested by the police in Abuja while covering the #EndBadGovernance protest on Thursday, Independent newspaper photojournalist Jide Oyekunle has been released.

Other journalists and police officers intervened before he was released.

The protests in Abuja have intensified, with the police using teargas to disperse the protesters marching towards Eagle Square.

Major roads like Nyanya Road have been blocked as well.

The Abuja-Keffi road – the boundary between Abuja and Nasarawa states – has been blocked too. The Abuja-Kaduna highway, Suleja, has also been blocked by a large number of protesters who are seeking the government to alleviate the economic hardship in the country.
