Gunshots As Police Disperse Protesters in Front of Kano Government House

936

The #EndBadGovernance protest in Kano has taken a new turn, as an alleged clash between the police and protesters started earlier in front of the Government House in Kano.

The protests across Nigeria are driven by frustration regarding hunger and economic hardship.

Gunshots could be heard in a video on X as security operatives tried to disperse the protest in front of Government House.

”These are protesters trooping from different places, as you can see. They are demanding good governance, but the protest is taking a new turn as some of the protesters began throwing stones at security personnel…,” a voice said in Hausa.

Security is massively deployed to restore order and is trying to disperse protesters. Recall that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, had earlier issued directives for police nationwide to “deal decisively” with troublemakers.

The protests, tagged #EndBadGovernance, which began today, have witnessed large participation across many states as protesters took to the streets to express their anger over rising food prices, economic hardship, and other perceived government failures.
