Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has budgeted a whooping sum of ₦18.9 billion as office ‘contingencies’ for approval into the 2024 Appropriation Bill and ₦2.4 billion budgeted for lawmakers Toyota Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs).

This was seen in a copy of the state’s approved 2024 budget, as assented to by the governor on December 25th, 2023.

In the breakdown of the approved budget, the governor estimated ₦415.66 billion in capital expenditure and ₦287.37 billion in recurrent expenditure.

However, the budget revealed that the governor had ₦18.9 billion for what he termed ‘Contingencies’ to address unforeseen eventualities in his office.

In addition, the governor earmarked the sum of ₦2.1 billion for the procurement of “25 NUMBER OF TOYOTA PRADO VX, AUTO, LEATHER SEAT, HIGH GRADE” for members of the House of Assembly.

Also, ₦161 million was budgeted for procuring one Toyota  LC3003.5L, twin turbo for the House speaker and another ₦143 million for one Toyota LC300GX, 4.0L under the state assembly.

With all of the above included in the state budget, the citizens of the Gateway State have faulted the governor for the poor condition of the road infrastructures across the state.
