Renowned Nigerian gospel artist Nathaniel Bassey has been invited to minister at the inaugural prayer breakfast for US President-elect Donald Trump on January 20, 2025, in Washington, DC.

Bassey is the only African artist on the lineup for the faith-based event. The prayer breakfast, hosted by Reverend Merrie Turner, will take place at the Waldorf Astoria Presidential Ballroom. Other speakers include Pastor Mario Bramick and Avelda King.

The prayer breakfast is a non-political, spiritual gathering held every four years before a new US president’s inauguration. It aims to provide prayers and worship for the president and the government.

The Akwa Ibom-born artist took to Instagram to share the good news with the event’s poster and a caption that read, “Let’s raise a sound in America. See you January 20, 2025.”

Bassey, renowned for organising the Hallelujah Challenge – an annual worship event streamed on social media that unites millions of worshippers globally has gained international acclaim.

Bassey has gained worldwide recognition as one of Nigeria and Africa’s most celebrated gospel ministers with a music career blending jazz, hymns, and medleys.
