Niger’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Abroad, Bakary Yaou Sangaré, on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, received the copies of credentials of five newly appointed ambassadors accredited to the Republic of Niger.

The diplomats include Bambang Suharto of Indonesia, Thirapath Mongkolnavin of Thailand, Paulo Jorge Adão Martins dos Santos of Portugal, Wolfgang Spadinger of Austria, and Jama Hassan Khalif of Somalia. While formally accredited to Niger, several of the envoys are based outside the country, with residences in Abuja, Algiers, and Juba.

The presentation of credentials marks an important step in the formal assumption of duties by the ambassadors, allowing them to begin official engagements with Nigerien authorities ahead of the submission of their full letters of credence to the head of state.
