Benin’s President Romuald Wadagni has officially extended an invitation to Mali’s transitional president, General of the Army Assimi Goïta, for a working and friendship visit to the Republic of Benin. The announcement came following high level talks in Bamako, where Wadagni made a diplomatic trip aimed at reinforcing the long standing historical relationship between the two West African nations.

During their exchanges, General Goïta and President Wadagni reaffirmed their shared commitment to boosting economic, trade, cultural, and security cooperation between Mali and Benin. The two leaders also emphasised the importance of African solidarity, respect for state sovereignty, and coordinated action against terrorism as essential steps to guarantee peace and stability across the sub region.

Observers noted that the fraternal meeting demonstrates a clear desire by both Mali and Benin to build a strong partnership focused on development, regional integration, and the well being of their citizens. No specific date has been announced yet for General Goïta’s visit to Benin.
