Ex-Taraba Governor Darius Ishaku Arraigned for ₦27b Fraud

Ex-Governor of Taraba State, Darius Dickson Ishaku, was arraigned on Monday before the Federal High Court, Abuja, over alleged fraud of ₦27 billion.

Ishaku’s arraignment, initiated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), also involved Bello Yero, a former permanent secretary of the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Taraba.

Both were placed on a 15-count charge bordering on conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and conversion of ₦27 billion in public funds by Justice S.C. Orji.

This was after Ishaku and Yero were arrested on Friday, September 27, 2024, according to the Crimes Commission.

They both pleaded “not guilty” to the charges, to which Justice Orji adjourned the case until Thursday, October 3, 2024.

The judge also ordered that the ex-governor and former permanent secretary be remanded in EFCC’s custody until the next hearing in court.
