The Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Austria to establish a K-9 (Dog) training unit to boost security and crime detection.
Mbah disclosed this on his official X handle on Thursday. He stated that the move was part of his administration’s quest for investment and partnerships.
He said, “I took our quest for investment and partnerships to Vienna, Austria, where I met with senior government officials, the business community, and international development partners.
“We had productive exchanges, which, among others, culminated in the signing of an MOU between the Austrian Minister of Interior, Gehard Karner, and me for establishing a K-9 training unit in Enugu State to boost security and crime detection.”
This comes barely two weeks after the governor signed a N100 billion deal with a company registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) only five days prior.
In addition to the security agreement, Mbah said he held talks with Austrian Minister of Agriculture Norbert Totschnig to create an agricultural model region in Enugu, stating that the project, covering 2,000 to 5,000 hectares, aims to replicate Austria’s cooperative success story.
He, however, acknowledged that the feasibility of such a large-scale agricultural transformation remains uncertain, given the existing infrastructural and economic challenges in Enugu State.
