Burkina Faso’s President, Ibrahim Traoré, has described 2025 as a year of largely positive progress for the country, highlighting gains in agriculture and security while outlining key priorities for 2026.
Speaking during a national address, Traoré pointed to record agricultural production as one of the major achievements of the past year, noting that improved output helped strengthen food security despite ongoing challenges. He also praised the country’s Defence and Security Forces for what he described as significant advances in the fight against insecurity, particularly in areas affected by armed violence.
Looking ahead to 2026, the president announced plans for sweeping reforms in the education sector, aimed at improving quality, access and relevance to national development needs. Education reform, he said, would play a central role in building long-term stability and self-reliance.
Traoré also revealed plans to complete the construction of a technological university focused on training, research and innovation. The institution is expected to support skills development in science and technology while contributing to Burkina Faso’s broader industrial and economic ambitions.
According to the president, the government’s agenda for the coming year will remain anchored on national sovereignty, security and sustainable development, as authorities continue efforts to reshape governance and strengthen state capacity.
