The government of Burkina Faso has announced a budget allocation of 31 billion FCFA (approximately $48.6 million) to settle outstanding social debts owed to teachers under the Ministry of Basic Education.
From 2023 to 2025, this debt is scheduled to be cleared throughout 2025. The country will be divided into four zones to implement this repayment plan, as specified by Minister Sosthène.
The settlement addresses various allowances, including housing allowances for teaching and supervisory staff and duty, technical, and housing allowances for state personnel employed under new specific roles within the ministry.
