Angola Opens Visa Application Centre in Port Harcourt, Boosting Accessibility for Travellers

652

The Angolan Embassy in Nigeria has announced the opening of a visa application centre in Port Harcourt, slated for Tuesday, aiming to streamline the visa application process for Nigerian residents.

This initiative aligns with the commemoration of Angola’s Day of Peace and National Reconciliation on April 4th. Developed in partnership with Akwa Helmes International Limited – AHIL, the centre will facilitate visa applications, bolster investment opportunities, support the oil and gas sector, and promote tourism, including sun-sea and adventure tourism.

In addition to visa services, the centre will offer amenities such as hotel reservations, ticket sales, and air connectivity to destinations served by Angola’s national airline, TAAG.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, as the special guest of H.E. Ambassador José Bamóquina ZAU. The event underscored the economic, cultural, and tourist cooperation between Angola and Nigeria.

Situated in Rivers State, Port Harcourt serves as a strategic hub in the Niger Delta, home to key petroleum and petrochemical industries, state-owned refineries, seaports, universities, and research institutes. With its sizable population of approximately 10 million, the city is a focal point for businessmen and technicians engaged in Angola’s oil and gas sector.

Local authorities aim to strengthen academic collaboration through training programs and technical internships in the industry, fostering mutual development and cooperation.
