The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has unveiled the squad to represent Nigeria at the 2025 World Athletics Relays in Guangzhou, China.

The event, scheduled for May 10–11, serves as a crucial qualifier for the upcoming World Athletics Championships in Japan, with the top 14 teams in each event earning automatic qualification.

Among the notable athletes in the squad is world 100m hurdles record holder, Tobi Amusan, who returns to the national relay team for the first time since the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Amusan will compete in the women’s 4x100m relay, alongside Favour Ofili, Chukwuma Rosemary, Umukoro Success, Eyakpobeyan Tiana, and Chukwuka Obi Jennifer.

Amusan has been instrumental in Nigeria’s recent relay successes, anchoring the team to gold at both the 2022 Commonwealth Games (later forfeited due to a doping violation by another athlete) and the 2024 African Games in Ghana.

In the men’s 4x100m, Nigeria will be represented by a strong sprint lineup featuring Akintola Alaba, Onwuzurike Udodi, Ashe Favour, Anunagba Karlington, Olaoye Folawiyo, and Itshekiri Usheoritshe.

The mixed 4x400m team includes a blend of seasoned and promising talents: Okezie Chidi, Ojeli Ifeanyin, Nathaniel Samson, George Patience Okon, Idamadudu Praise, and Omolara Ogunmakinju.
