Niger and Iran have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in the fight against transnational threats.

The session, described as highly productive by both sides, was expanded to include members of both delegations. During the meeting, the two countries agreed to establish a joint committee of experts. This body will meet regularly to exchange information, develop strategies, and coordinate actions aimed at bolstering mutual security efforts.

Key areas of focus outlined in the agreement include counterterrorism, the fight against transnational organised crime, trafficking of all kinds, border control, and the management of illegal immigration. The move signals a deepening of ties between the two nations in the face of growing regional security challenges.

Officials from Niger and Iran emphasised their shared commitment to peace, stability, and the proactive handling of threats that transcend national borders.
