Malian Armed Forces Dismantles Cattle Rustlers Network, Neutralises Ten Terrorists In Central Mali

Malian Armed Forces, or FAMa, announced on Thursday that it had dismantled a network of cattle rustlers and neutralised around ten terrorists who attacked civilians in the central regions of Mali.

This was contained in a press release by FAMa, indicating the incident occurred on the night of August 21st – 22nd, 2024, following a security alert by the citizens of Bankass.

Following an alert given by the population concerning a mass of cattle around Bankass, the FAMa set off in pursuit of the attackers and the herd they were leading towards a neighbouring country, the statement reads partly.

FAMa, however, noted the motive of the contained bandits was a preferred mode of action for financing terrorists by stealing animals to sell at sub-region markets.

FAMa deployed air vectors which struck down the terrorists, putting an end to this evil escape,” it added.

According to FAMa, the ground patrol would be dispatched to recover and return the animals to their legitimate owners.

“The EMGA (Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces) would like to point out that, as part of their permanent missions to secure people and property throughout the national territory,” it added.

The armed forces also assured Malians of continued efforts to prevent, arrest, and neutralise armed terrorist groups and armed bandits attacking unarmed civilians while calling on them to continue cooperating with the security and defence forces.
