NYSC Debunks Rumour on N70,000 Minimum Wage Upgrade Directive

The Federal Government is set to introduce a new training program similar to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for graduates of the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE)

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has dismissed claims circulating on social media that it has directed corps members to upgrade their accounts in preparation for the payment of a N70,000 minimum wage.

The scheme clarified that no such directive has been issued by any relevant government body.

In a statement released on Sunday by the NYSC’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, the organisation urged corps members, their parents, and the general public to disregard the false information.

Megwa emphasised that any official communication regarding wage matters would be conveyed through established channels.

“Corps members already know the approved channel and mode of communication in the scheme and should, therefore, ignore the directive accordingly,” the statement read.

The NYSC also cautioned bloggers and social media influencers against spreading unauthorised information related to the scheme’s management.

Megwa warned that such actions could mislead the public and urged the public to verify any information through official NYSC platforms.
