Fire Guts LG Office In Lagos, Destroys Millions Worth Of Goods, Electronics

A fire outbreak at LG office in Abule Osun, Trade Fair area of Lagos State on Sunday destroyed goods and electronics worth millions of naira.

Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident in a statement.

Oke-Osanyintolu said the agency received distress calls through the 767 and 112 toll-free emergency lines around 12:15 AM and activated the Lagos State Emergency Response Plans.

“Upon arrival at the scene at about 12:40 AM, it was discovered that fire was raging at the LG office located at the above address. The fire spread throughout the entire warehouse, affecting equipment, small forklifts, household goods and electronics worth hundreds of millions of naira,” he said.

Oke-Osanyintolu noted that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. He added that the agency deployed additional fire trucks to support the operation. “No fatalities or injuries in the incident but the fire escalated to the entire premises,” he said.
