The #EndBadGovernance protest has kicked off before the scheduled date as protesters have reportedly blocked the Kaduna-Abuja highway in Niger State.

According to Premium Times, protesters armed with placards have blocked the road linking Kaduna to Abuja.

This is coming three days before the planned 10-day nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest through which civil society groups and concerned citizens aim to demonstrate against hunger caused by inflation, insecurity, and corruption.

The protesters on the Kaduna-Abuja highway are demanding the return of fuel subsidies and an end to economic hardship. Recall that President Bola Tinubu removed the fuel subsidy on his first day in office, which has brought hardship to many Nigerians.

The protesters carried placards with inscriptions such as ‘We Are Not Slaves’, ‘Enough is Enough’, ‘Stop Anti-Masses Policies’, ‘Hardship Is Unbearable’ and ‘Fuel Subsidy Must Be Back.’

Security Chiefs have made a series of pleas and threats to discourage participation in the protest, but it continues to garner momentum as August 1 draws closer.
