Earlier reports had confirmed that nine bodies had been retrieved from a quarry near the dump site opposite Kware Police Station.

The bodies, stuffed in sacks and some hacked into pieces, were found by local youths who police officers from Kware Police Station later aided.

Speculations are rife among the citizens, with many alleging that the bodies may be linked to the protests witnessed recently.

The protests that turned bloody saw state forces reacting with teargas and alleged shootings that escalated tension in the region.

The discovery of the bodies has forced Kenya’s Inspector General of Police, Japheth Koome, to resign.

His resignation came after allegations that the nine bodies found near Kware Police Station were those of protesters.
