A North Carolina man was killed after attempting to intervene in a carjacking. The incident, captured on video, has gone viral.

The footage shows Jonathan Adam Lecompte, 38, approaching the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Ricky Alex Driggers. Lecompte tries to stop Driggers from allegedly stealing a road crew’s vehicle in Lumberton on March 18th (according to the Fayetteville Observer).

“Don’t get in the goddamn truck, fool!” Lecompte can be heard yelling before firing a shot at Driggers. The video shows Driggers reversing the white truck.

Lecompte warned bystanders to move out of the way as the truck sped forward, striking him and causing onlookers to scream in horror. Lecompte was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police chased Driggers until he crashed his vehicle. He has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted robbery, vehicle theft, and fleeing the scene. He is currently being held without bail in Robeson County Jail.
