EFCC Arrests 3 in Kaduna For Selling Naira Notes

430

The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested three individuals for suspected racketeering involving N1,307,400.

The arrested suspects, Musa Gideon, Abdul Adamu, and Justine Musa, were caught attempting to sell new naira notes to an undercover EFCC operative along Yakubu Gowon way, Kaduna.

Dele Oyewale, the spokesperson for the EFCC, disclosed the successful sting operation and emphasized that the arrested individuals would face legal consequences once investigations were complete.

“The suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded”, he said.

The operatives lay hold on both new and old naira notes totalling N1,307,400, along with several Automated Teller Machine cards. Oyewale mentioned earlier arrests in Lagos and Rivers States involving perpetrators issuing invoices in dollars and mutilating the naira.

The EFCC has established a Special Task Force across its commands to this effect. The Chairman of EFCC, Olukoyede, recently convened with the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Yemi Cardoso. These meetings and recent policies reflect the struggle and hardship plaguing the Nigerian economy.
