Two young men were killed over the weekend by suspected herdsmen in Ukpata and Opanda of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area in Enugu State.

In Ukwuakpu, between Ukpata and Uvuru communities, an unidentified student of Nsukka High School was shot while trying to protect his sister from potential harm.

According to reports, the student was pleading with the herdsmen not to rape his sister when he was shot.

The sister is reported to be undergoing medical treatment at an undisclosed location.

In another tragic event, a passerby travelling from Adani to Opanda was fatally shot by the roaming herdsmen.

These incidents add to the growing violence in Uzo-Uwani, which has witnessed previous attacks, including the killing of mourners at Ugwuijoro Nimbo.
