“Trump-Ramaphosa Meeting Delegation Embarrassed South Africa,” EFF Leader Malema Condemns ‘White Genocide’ Claims

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has condemned US President Donald Trump for using misleading video clips to push discredited claims of a so-called “white genocide” in South Africa. The incident followed a recent meeting between President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa and Trump in Washington, D.C., which the EFF dismissed as an imperialist display.

According to reports, Trump played footage of Malema speaking at rallies and in parliament, particularly clips of him chanting “Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer”, during talks with Ramaphosa. Trump used the videos to suggest that white South Africans face systematic attacks, a claim that analysts, human rights bodies, and the South African government have repeatedly dismissed as false.

President Ramaphosa downplayed Trump’s comments during the closed-door meeting. However, the EFF, via a statement, accused both leaders of distorting facts for political convenience.

The EFF said the meeting, held under the guise of strengthening diplomatic ties, quickly devolved into an attack on its leader and the party’s radical land reform agenda.

In a strongly-worded statement, the EFF accused Ramaphosa of cowardice for failing to defend the legality of the chant, which multiple South African courts have upheld as a symbol of liberation heritage rather than a literal incitement to violence.

South Africa has been embarrassed by a delegation that contradicted itself, abandoned judicial decisions, and at times was simply grovelling and lying,” the EFF said.

The party also aimed at members of Ramaphosa’s delegation, including Johann Rupert, the DA leader, Agriculture Minister John Steenhuisen, and Ernie Els.

The dominance of white male voices in the entire interaction, proves and vindicates the EFF that the delegation was one that sought to make assurances to Trump that the transformation agenda of South Africa is one that can be compromised on upon negotiation. All of the utterances by Ramaphosa’s delegation point to a devious plot to rekindle relations with a maniacal Trump administration by sacrificing our sovereignty at the alter of convenience,” the group stated.

The EFF further noted that Steenhuisen admitted to a pact between the ANC and DA to block the party from gaining political power. The group called it a betrayal of South Africa’s transformation agenda, particularly land redistribution.

Malema reaffirmed the EFF’s commitment to land expropriation without compensation, a key pillar of its policy. The party accused the US of attempting to silence voices pushing for economic justice and vowed to resist foreign influence over South African laws and resources, particularly the reported lobbying for Elon Musk’s Starlink internet service.

Despite Trump reportedly suggesting action be taken against Malema, the EFF declared that it cannot be silenced.
