Security agents in Kogi State have successfully intercepted a truck transporting 53 stolen electrical transformers intended for electrification projects across the state. The apprehension occurred at Obajana while the truck was en route to Lagos.

The criminals involved were arrested alongside the truck, and the stolen transformers are now secured under the custody of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State praised the vigilance and commitment of the security forces. He highlighted this interception as an achievement and stated that it stands as a testament to the intensified efforts to combat crime in the state.

He expressed satisfaction with the results, noting that the apprehended suspects have provided crucial information leading to the arrest of an additional gang member in Ilorin, Kwara State, and the alleged receiver of the stolen transformers in Lagos.

Governor Ododo reiterated his administration’s unwavering determination to eradicate crime and criminal activities in Kogi State. Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismaila Isah, the governor said:

“I must commend security agencies operating in the state for being steadfast in the discharge of their responsibilities at all times.”
