AFCON continues with intriguing displays as Egypt narrowly avoided a shock defeat against Mozambique in their Group B opener.

Mostafa Mohamed set the tone with an early goal just two minutes into the game, but Mozambique staged a remarkable comeback in the second half.

Witi Quembo and Clesio Bauque netted two quick goals, putting the underdogs on the brink of a historic upset.

However, Egypt’s hopes were salvaged when superstar Mohamed Salah stepped up with a 97th-minute penalty, securing a 2-2 draw and sparing his team from an unexpected setback.

Meanwhile, in the group B match, Cape Verde stunned football enthusiasts with a last-gasp 2-1 victory over Ghana.

Jamiro Monteiro initially put Cape Verde ahead on 17 minutes, only for Alexander Djiku to level the score with a headed goal in the 56th minute.

The game seemed destined for a draw until Garry Rodrigues struck in injury time, securing a memorable win for Cape Verde and propelling them to the top of the group standings.
