The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the controversial February 25 general election, Mr Peter Gregory Obi, paid a solidarity visit on Saturday to the victims of the Plateau massacre that took place on the late evening of 24th December, which led to Black Christmas as the death tolls rose to 200 victims.

His visit, however, was after the unprovoked attack by yet-to-be-identified perpetrators that left over 200 dead and many displaced in the communities of Bokkos, Barkin-Ladi, and Mangu LGAs in Plateau state respectively.

Having been received by the Local Government Chairman, Monday Kassam, in a video released on Channels TV while soliciting with the internally displaced persons. H.E. Peter Obi, after observing a silent minute, condoled the Internally Displaced Persons in the camps and promised to send N10 million into the IDP support account as managed by a committee set up by TIC Chairman Bokkos LG.

However, on Saturday, the Plateau State Police Command said it had deployed more personnel to provide security in Bokkos and other troubled LGs in the state.

The spokesman for the command, Alabo Alfred, who disclosed this in a statement on  Saturday, said the action complied with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police after visiting the state to assess the situation.
