Peter Obi Speaks on Killings and Attacks on Christmas Eve

212

In a heartfelt post on X(Formerly Twitter), former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, addressed the escalating insecurity plaguing various parts of Nigeria.

Expressing concern over recent tragic incidents, Obi emphasized the need for solidarity and support for the nation’s security forces, highlighting their pivotal role in safeguarding the country’s peace and freedoms.

Obi’s statement followed a series of appalling events, including the ghastly nightclub attack in the Regent of Oba Community, Anambra State, and the brutal Christmas Day terrorism in Plateau State, where over 100 lives were reportedly lost and hundreds left injured.

He also lamented the distressing incidents of violence in Zamfara and Kastina States, involving killings and abductions of farmers, underscoring the often unreported yet pervasive nature of such assaults across the nation.

Expressing empathy for the families bereaved by these heinous acts, Obi extended his heartfelt condolences, recognizing the profound challenges faced by the nation during these turbulent times.

Drawing attention to the sacrifice made by security personnel who spend the festive season away from their families to protect the nation, he urged fellow citizens to hold these heroes in their thoughts and prayers.

Obi underlined the critical role played by the armed forces, police, civil defense, and security operatives on multiple fronts, defending the nation’s liberty and democracy.

He called for unity among leaders, citizens, and those safeguarding freedom, emphasizing that the collective efforts of these individuals contribute to building a great nation.

In conclusion, Obi includes prayers for healing and restoration, urging for national unity to overcome the staggering challenges of insecurity and loss of lives.

He emphasized the imperative need for concerted prayers, unity, and support to heal the nation’s wounds.

As the nation grapples with the devastating repercussions of these incidents, Peter Obi’s appeal is a clarion call for unity, support for security forces, and a collective determination to foster peace and security across Nigeria.
