House Urges Nigerians to Lodge 'Further Engagement' After Alex Ikwechegh Assault Bolt Driver

Alex Mascot Ikwuechegh, a member of the House of Representatives, was captured in a video assaulting a Bolt driver sent to deliver a parcel to his residential address in Maitama, Abuja.

The former Local Government Chairman of Aba North (APGA) Abia State also threatened to forcefully make the Bolt driver disappear.

In the now-viral clip, Ikwuechegh slapped the driver twice, tore his shirt round-neck t-shirt, and broke his phone in the escalation.

Ikwuechegh was also heard in the video threatening to make the driver “disappear” from Nigeria without repercussions.

I can make that rat [the Bolt driver] disappear from Nigeria, and nothing will happen. Look at this monkey. Do you know who the fuck I am? How dare you? I have slapped you twice and will slap you three times, Ikwuechegh boasted.

Before the insults hurled, assaults and threats made by Ikwuechegh, the driver had informed the HoR member to pick up the parcel he had ordered. Ikwuechegh felt disrespected for the driver’s simple request. Hence, the escalation in the following video.

Assault and battery is a crime in Nigeria under Section 355 of the Criminal Code Act, which stipulates that “Any person who unlawfully assaults another and thereby does him harm is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment for three years.”
