Man Calls for Help as Police Threatens Mother to Lure his Arrest

457

A strange number has informably instructed a Civil Engineer, Mr. Olagoke Omolaja Emmanuel, to remove his sim from his phone and go into hiding because of a case of gun and axe possession which he claims to know nothing about.

On March 3, 2024, Emmanuel received a strange text on Monday at exactly 5:32 pm with instructions to disengage his sim card, not to visit anywhere close to Oshogbo or Lekki, where he originates and resides, but to go into hiding for a case the stranger claimed his number is affiliated to.

In response to the text, Emmanuel asked the stranger – whom TrueCaller revealed as “Abbey from Iwo Road” – how he was able to obtain his contact despite not knowing him. Abbey responded that one Subomi, who was arrested with guns in his possession, and is now in the Police SARS Unit in Ibadan used his phone to contact him.

A day after he had received the text message, his mother called him to come help out at her school in Oshogbo. Emmanuel on getting to Oshogbo, realized the police had used his mom to lure him.

According to him, his mom narrated how the police (SARS) visited her school and house after tracking her phone, and asked what she does for a living. They claimed that they had already arrested four suspects and her son was the last person on their radar.
“I was shocked and I told my mom that I got a text message from an unknown number telling me the same.”

Speaking to West Africa Weekly, Emmanuel said that he does not know who Subomi is, or who is the stranger who claimed Subomi used his phone to contact him. According to him, he he suspects it could be the Police unit trying to frame him up and jail him for another person’s crimes.

Emmanuel is set to visit the police station to clear his name along with his lawyer.
