LP Convention Endorses Peter Obi for 2027 Presidential Ticket, Alex Otti for Abia Gubernatorial Race

The Labour Party Convention has announced Mr Peter Gregory Obi’s endorsement as the sole candidate for the party’s 2027 presidential ticket. The endorsement was contained in a Communiqué signed by the party at the National Convention today.

Alex Otti, Governor of Abia State, also received a vote of confidence and was recommended as the party’s candidate for the 2027 Abia state gubernatorial race.

The convention thoroughly assessed the track record of both candidates, taking into account their contributions before, during, and after the 2023 general election.

The convention unanimously recommended Obi, the party’s National Leader, for the presidential ticket, citing his unwavering dedication and leadership qualities.

Similarly, the convention acknowledged the ongoing development and commendable performance of Governor Alex Otti in Abia state.

In recognition of his efforts, the convention passed a vote of confidence in him and advocated for his candidacy in the 2027 gubernatorial race.

Additionally, the convention marked a moment of financial transparency and responsibility by approving the audited financial report from 2022 to 2023.

Furthermore, the presented 2024 annual budget received unanimous approval.

For a post-election update, the party expressed gratitude to its members and supporters nationwide for their unwavering dedication during the 2023 General Election.

Encouraging unity, the convention urged all affiliated groups to integrate their structures into the existing party framework at ward, local, and national levels.

The convention also saw the election of various national officers, including Julius Abure as National Chairman, Mr. Ifoh Obiora as National Publicity Secretary, and others, who were mandated to steer the party towards its objectives.

The convention empowered the National Working Committee (NWC) to address existing vacancies within the NWC and NEC, ensuring a robust and functional leadership structure for the party’s future endeavours.
