Lalong Leaves Tinubu's Cabinet to Take Up Plateau Senate Seat

Simon Lalong is expected today to be sworn in as a Senator representing the Plateau South Senatorial District by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio. This follows the exit of Lalong as Tinubu’s Minister of Labor and Employment.

Recall that the appellate court in Abuja on November 7, 2023, affirmed Lalong’s victory as the winner of the February 23 poll, which leaves the People’s Democratic Party’s candidate winning declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as nullified.

The former Plateau governor, Simon Lalong, having obtained the certificate of return for his senatorial seat victory, has the obligation to serve the people of Plateau, especially the South, which he won their vote of confidence as upheld by the appellate court of Abuja.

This is a developing story as the people of Plateau prepare for their representative to take on the responsibilities that come with the benefit of the doubt given at the poll and the appellate court.
