Hoodlums Stole Ganduje’s Criminal Records From State High Court, Kano Govt. Claims

In an attempt to discredit the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protesters, the Kano State Government has accused hoodlums disguised as protesters of stealing court documents detailing the criminal trial of former governor turned APC Chieftain Abdullahi Ganduje.

During his visit to the State High Court on Wednesday, Governor Abba Yusuf took a firm stand against the destruction, stating that “hired miscreants” had caused the damage.

In the company of Governor Yusuf were the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Haruna Isah Dederi, Alhaji Abdullahi Ado Bayero, the Chief Registrar of the High Court, and some judges.

Following the visit, the governor said the August 1-10 protest led to hoodlums carting away documents the court used to build its case against the former governor, Ganduje.

While inspecting the damage to the court, Yusuf estimated the setback to be over N1 billion as he strongly advised the youth to reject any calls to engage in violent acts against the state.

After the visit, the spokesperson to Governor Yusuf, Sanusi Tofa, in a statement, said, “It is very unfortunate that enemies of Kano State hired undesirable elements to vandalise one of the historic public buildings with a mission of averting corruption charges against the Ag. National Chairman of APC and former state governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his family and aides.”

Recall that the state took Ganduje, his wife Hafsatu, his son, Umar Abdullahi, and five others to court on eight count charges over misappropriation and diversion of public funds during his tenure as governor.

Meanwhile, in a recent exposé, Ganduje’s wife, Hafsatu, was exposed in financial records linking her unique Bank Verification Number and personal bank accounts to receiving funds of more than N20 billion directly from the state government accounts.
