The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Guinea-Bissau has requested that the Gulfstream IV aircraft, seized with drugs at Osvaldo Vieira International Airport, be officially declared state property.

The aircraft, registered under a Mexican flag, was involved in a major drug bust on Saturday.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Prosecutor’s Office announced that, following the initial interrogation of the suspects, it had asked the Criminal Investigation Judge to place them in preventive detention.

The Judicial Police had seized 2,633 kilograms of cocaine on board the aircraft, which had arrived from Venezuela. The drug seizure is the highest drug seizure recorded in Guinea-Bissau.

Five individuals were arrested in connection with the case, including the pilot. The suspects include citizens of Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, and Brazil.
