The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sealed a Chinese supermarket in Abuja, situated at the China General Chamber of Commerce, following reports of discriminatory practices against Nigerian citizens.

The doors were sealed on Monday after officials of the FCCPC interrogated the Nigerian workers in the supermarket.

The move came after widespread outrage erupted on Sunday over a policy implemented by the supermarket, which exclusively allowed entry to Chinese citizens while barring Nigerians from accessing its services.

The discriminatory policy sparked condemnation from Nigerians and authorities alike, leading to calls for immediate action.

Shaibu Sanusi, the facility manager of the complex housing the supermarket confirmed reports that Nigerians from outside the complex were being denied entry only allowing those within to shop.
