Zenith Bank Plc has been awarded the “Best Bank for Digital Solutions in Nigeria” at the 2023 Euromoney Awards for Excellence while highlighting the bank’s exceptional accomplishments in providing innovative digital financial products.
This is a recognition that comes with criticism, especially from Zenith Bank customers who are frequently faced with unresolved issues of mobile or USSD transfer via the Zenith Bank App both on Android and iOS platforms.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), a citizen @UjaOliver commented on X, saying “Oluwole award or which award? A bank whose ATM machines are hardly operational and the app so problematic to use?😃I dey hail.”

Also, @IamThatNaijaGuy commented, saying, “I fixed it: Zenith Bank, Buys Euro money award as the worst bank in digital solutions. Rubbish”

Speaking of recognition as Euromoney awards Zenith Bank Plc on Best Bank for Digital Solutions, the Group Managing Director/CEO of Zenith Bank Plc, Dr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu, said, “We are delighted to receive the distinction as the Best Bank for Digital Solutions in Nigeria. This accolade serves as a validation of Zenith Bank’s trailblazing initiatives in integrating advanced technology within Nigeria’s financial services sector. Our commitment to expanding the horizons of digital financial services is unwavering and we will persist in our efforts to innovate and deliver enhanced value to our customers and stakeholders.”

Dr. Ebenezer dedicated the award to Jim Ovia, Founder and Chairman of Zenith Bank Plc, for taking a creative approach to incorporating technology into banking, setting an example for service delivery during a period when the field’s potential for technology in banking had not yet reached its full potential.  However, critics have taken to social media platforms to express what appears to be the most excruciating pain ever accessing their money with the Bank.

One of the most sought-after honours that counts the important banks and bankers is the Euromoney Awards for Excellence. Established in 1992 as the first of its kind, the awards recognize excellence in the global banking industry, with banks from all over the world submitting an unprecedented number of entries for this year’s regional and national awards program, which includes the best bank awards in 100 countries as well as over 50 regional awards.
